Physiotherapy involves a range of treatments that help to improve mobility, relieve pain, enhance healing, and improve posture and function in order to optimise movement and performance.
A session includes assessment of the animal both statically and dynamically which is then put together with the animal's history to identify the goals of treatment; appropriate treatment is then given along with follow-up advice on care and exercise.
My treatments include a combination of massage, myofascial release, joint mobilisation, electrotherapies such as laser and ultrasound, stretching and target exercises.
McTimoney is a chiropractic technique adapted for use on animals in the 1950s. Treatments work on realignment of the spinal column and pelvis to optimise function of the body.
This technique uses high-velocity, low-amplitude adjustments, meaning they are quick with light force making them really well accepted by animals. These adjustments induce a reflex response from the targeted vertebrae and associated soft tissues to improve range of motion, release muscle tension and optimise nerve function.
McTimoney chiropractic can be used for rehabilitation following injury or as a preventative measure to improve health and well-being.
Each session can include either physiotherapy, chiropractic or a combination of the two where appropriate, all at the same cost. Every animal seen is assessed individually to select the correct treatment plan.
Please note that reduced activity is required following treatment for up to 48 hours as the body continues to adapt to the adjustments. Please bear this in mind when making your appointment as it is not appropriate the day before a competition.
